Editor's review
This is a reader for CHM files.
The obvious question that comes to mind when faced with a CHM document reader is, what more do I get with this reader compared to the default MS reader for CHM formatted files? ExtraCHM is a multi-tabbed eBook reader that allows you to view Compiled HTML (chm) under Windows XP/Vista/7. What it does add in terms of features compared to the default reader are tabbed display, easier display, zoom capability, page bookmarks, text selections etc. These features do make the reader significantly better that the Microsoft supplied reader for CHM file. This tool also lets your searches become much easier. The searching is much like Google does searching; and it does not require search index to be present in the document. Search keywords can have punctuation marks. Searching can also be done in CHM files of any language.
Bookmarking is quite flexible. You can not only bookmark whole pages, but a selection of text from a specific page also can be bookmarked. Finding those pieces of specific information then becomes very easy. The zooming is also available not only for parts of pages but the whole document too. The text to speech feature available makes it easy for listening to the document content while performing something else. The voice used sound quite natural and the reading style is also pleasant. The tool will let you print pages, if you need to. The CHM can be decompiled into HTML when required.
